If the lid of your NINESTARS CB-DZT-50-9/8-1 trash can is not opening when you place your hand near the sensor, there are a few possible reasons for this issue.
1. Sensor Obstruction: Make sure that there are no obstructions in front of the sensor, such as debris or objects. The sensor needs a clear line of sight to function properly.
2. Sensor Range: Ensure that you are placing your hand within the specified sensor range, which is approximately ten inches from the infrared sensor or at an angle of 130 degrees. Placing your hand too far or at an incorrect angle may prevent the lid from opening.
3. Battery Power: Check the battery power level. If the batteries are low, they may not provide enough power for the sensor to function properly. Replace the batteries with fresh ones and ensure they are inserted correctly, following the positive (+) and negative (-) poles.
4. Sensor Calibration: In some cases, the sensor may need to be recalibrated. Try turning off the trash can by switching the power switch to the "O" position, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on by switching to the "I" position. This may reset the sensor and resolve the issue.
