To install the STANDARD HORIZON MLS-300B External Speaker, you have two options: mounting it using the bracket or using the flush mount installation method. Here are the step-by-step instructions for both methods:
Bracket Mount Installation:
1. Remove the MLS-300B from the bracket by unscrewing the two Mounting Bracket Knobs.
2. Choose a suitable location to mount the speaker.
3. Use the bracket as a template to mark the locations of the mounting holes.
4. Drill the holes using a 5.2-mm (17/64”) bit and secure the bracket using the supplied screws, spring washers, flat washers, and nuts.
5. Insert the MLS-300B into the bracket with the Mounting Bracket Knobs.
6. Adjust the angle of the speaker to your preference and tighten the Mounting Bracket Knobs to secure the MLS-300B to the bracket.
7. Route and secure the speaker cable from the MLS-300B to your Marine VHF. Connect the WHITE wire of the speaker cable to the positive (+) external speaker output of the Marine VHF and the shield of the speaker cable to the negative (–) external speaker connection.
Flush Mount Installation:
1. Remove the MLS-300B from the bracket by unscrewing the two Mounting Bracket Knobs, and then remove the rear case of the MLS-300B from the main body by removing the four screws.
2. Assemble the supplied M4x50 xxxx , Nut, and Washer according to the provided diagram.
3. Use the supplied template to mark the location where the round hole needs to be cut. Ensure that there is enough space behind the dash or panel to accommodate the MLS-300B (at least 2.8 inches/70 mm deep).
4. Cut out the round hole and insert the MLS-300B from the front side.
5. Pass the four M4x50 Screws (with Nut and Washer) through the mounting holes on the panel from the back side, and turn the screws five times.
6. Adjust the tension of the four nuts so that the MLS-300B is tightly secured against the mounting surface.
7. Route and secure the speaker cable from the MLS-300B to your Marine VHF. Connect the WHITE wire of the speaker cable to the positive (+) external speaker output of the Marine VHF and the shield of the speaker cable to the negative (–) external speaker connection.
The specifications of the STANDARD HORIZON MLS-300B External Speaker are as follows:
- Speaker Impedance: 4 Ω
- Maximum Power Input: 10 W
