To tune the SLAPS-M8 subwoofer enclosure, follow these steps:
1. Remove the ±160g mass that comes preinstalled with the SLAPS-M8. This mass can be adjusted based on the net internal volume of your speaker box/enclosure and your preferred tuning frequency.
2. Calculate the net internal volume of your speaker box/enclosure, taking into account the speaker/driver displacement.
3. Refer to the provided tuning graph for different speaker boxes/enclosures to determine the amount of mass to add. For example, if your net internal volume is 0.523 (15L) and your preferred tuning frequency is 30Hz, you will need to add about 108g of mass to the SLAPS-M8.
4. If you choose to modify the mass provided, every 1/2ʺ drill hole (±9g) will increase the tuning frequency by 1Hz. Ensure that the modifications are symmetrical to maintain even mass distribution.
5. If you prefer not to use the provided mass or tuning graph, you can purchase flat washers with a 5/16ʺ (8mm) inner diameter and a maximum of 2ʺ (52mm) outer diameter from a hardware store. Experiment with different quantities of washers to achieve your desired tuning frequency.
