To properly install the Powerbass OE-690D Midbass OEM Replacement Speakers, follow these steps:
1. Read the instruction guide thoroughly before beginning the installation.
2. Make sure you have the necessary tools, including an electric drill with drill bits, screwdrivers, wire strippers, crimping tool, and needle-nose pliers.
3. Turn off all stereo and electrical devices before starting the installation.
4. Disconnect the (-) negative lead from your vehicle's battery.
5. Keep the speakers in the package until final installation.
6. Check if there is enough clearance behind the mounting surface before installing the speakers.
7. Use grommets when running speaker wires through sheet metal to insulate them from metal edges.
8. Determine if the original factory mounting cutouts can be used with the factory grills. If not, cut a panel of Masonite or MDF to firmly mount the speaker.
9. Install the speakers above or below the mounting hole, ensuring there are no air leaks between the front and back of the speaker.
10. For door installations, check the clearance of the window and roll-up mechanisms to ensure they clear the speaker structure throughout the window's travel range.
11. Check the available mounting depth before installing the speaker.
12. Pay attention to the polarity when connecting speaker wires from the amplifier or head unit to the speaker for optimum sound reproduction.
13. Do not mount the speakers or external crossovers where they will get wet.
14. Refer to the wiring diagram in the instruction guide to wire the speakers correctly based on the impedance requirement of your OEM amplifier.
15. Both coils of the dual voice coil speaker must be wired in one of the recommended configurations to ensure proper operation.
16. After installation, test the system and adjust the musical level to avoid distortion. Ensure that the speakers are supplied with enough unclipped amplifier power to drive them properly.
Please note that these are general installation instructions, and if you have any reservations about your installation skills or lack the proper tools, it is recommended to contact your local PowerBass Autosound dealer for assistance.
