To install the Polk Audio 625RT 2-way In-wall Speakers, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the wall or ceiling surface: If the surface is heavily textured, such as stucco or popcorn finish, sand and smooth the area around the speaker cutout to ensure proper seating of the speaker and grille.
2. Take inventory: Check that you have all the components, including the in-wall loudspeaker, speaker cutout mounting template, Sheer-Grille, port plug (if applicable), owner's manual, and registration card. If anything is missing or damaged, contact Polk Audio Customer Support Services.
3. Determine speaker placement: Decide where you want to install the speakers, considering the room layout and acoustics. Refer to the provided diagrams for recommended speaker locations in a 5.1 or 7.1 system.
4. Mark the installation location: Use a pencil to mark the desired location for the speaker cutout.
5. Cut the wall or ceiling: Use a keyhole saw, utility knife, or appropriate tool to cut the drywall or wall material according to the provided speaker cutout dimensions (12-3/4" H x 7-1/4" W).
6. Mount the speaker: Place the speaker into the cutout and secure it using the provided mounting screws. Ensure that the speaker is level.
7. Connect the wiring: Run the speaker wire through the wall or ceiling and connect it to the speaker terminals. Follow appropriate building and fire codes for wiring installation.
8. Optional painting of grilles: If desired, follow the specific painting procedure provided in the manual to paint the Sheer-Grilles for a smooth, even coverage. Use spray paint matched to the wall color.
9. Adjust room environment controls (if applicable): Depending on the model, there may be imaging, tweeter switch, or wall distance switch options. Refer to the manual for instructions on adjusting these controls for optimum sound performance.
10. Use the provided port plug (if applicable): If you are installing the speakers in an area larger than a standard open stud bay, use the provided port plug to ensure proper performance. Ensure the plug is fully seated into the port.
