To connect the Polk Audio PSW10 subwoofer to your receiver, you have a few options depending on the available connections on your receiver. Here are the steps for each hookup option:
Hookup Option 1 (Dolby Digital Speaker Set Up Settings):
1. Use an RCA cable to connect the "Sub Out" or "LFE Out" on your receiver to the L or R Line input on the PSW10 subwoofer. You can also use a Y-split cable to connect both L and R Line inputs.
2. Turn the "Low Pass" filter on the PSW10 fully clockwise. This will create an LFE input.
3. Set your receiver's speaker configurations as follows: Set Front, Center, and Surround speakers to "small." Set the Subwoofer to "ON," "YES," or "PRESENT."
Hookup Option 2 (Dolby Digital Speaker Set Up Settings):
1. If your receiver does not have a dedicated subwoofer output, you can use the speaker level inputs on the PSW10.
2. Use two-conductor 16 gauge or thicker speaker wires to connect the left and right front speaker outputs of your receiver to the speaker level inputs on the PSW10.
3. Connect your front speakers to the speaker level outputs on the PSW10.
4. Set your receiver's speaker configurations as follows: Set Front speakers to "LARGE," Subwoofer to "OFF" or "NO," and Center and Surrounds to "SMALL."
Hookup Option 3:
1. If your receiver has full-range (unfiltered) Left and Right "Pre Out" jacks, you can use this hookup option.
2. Use RCA cables to connect the left and right preamp outputs on your receiver to the left and right LINE LEVEL inputs on the PSW10. Do not use speaker wires.
3. Set your receiver's speaker configurations as follows: Set Front speakers to "LARGE," Subwoofer to "OFF" or "NO."
