To connect your Polk R500 Floorstanding Tower Speakers to your amplifier or receiver, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the speaker wire: Strip 0.5" (12.7mm) of insulation from each of the two conductors of the wire to expose the bare metal. Twist each of the individual conductors into single un-frayed strands.
2. Identify the terminals: On the rear of each speaker, you will find two terminals. One is marked red (+) and the other is black (-).
3. Connect the wire: Connect the wire from the positive (+) terminal of your amplifier or receiver to the red (+) terminal on your speaker. Connect the wire from the negative (-) terminal of your amplifier or receiver to the black (-) terminal on your speaker. Make sure to maintain consistency with the wire connections.
4. Choose the type of connection: You have several options for connecting the wire to the speaker terminals. The recommended methods are binding posts or connectors such as banana plugs or spade lugs. Follow the instructions provided in the manual for your chosen method.
5. Repeat for the other speaker: Repeat steps 2-4 for the second speaker.
6. Bi-Wiring or Bi-Amping (optional): If you have the R700 model, you have the option to bi-wire or bi-amp your speakers for improved performance. Refer to the manual for specific instructions on how to set up bi-wiring or bi-amping.
7. Bass Management (optional): If you are using your speakers in a home theater setup with a subwoofer, you may need to adjust the bass management settings on your receiver or processor. Refer to the manual for recommended settings for your specific model.
8. Rubber Feet and Adjustable Floor Spikes: If needed, adjust the rubber feet and floor spikes included with your speakers to stabilize them on your floor. Follow the instructions provided in the manual for adjusting the floor spikes.
By following these steps, you should be able to successfully connect your Polk R500 Floorstanding Tower Speakers to your amplifier or receiver.
