Here is a step-by-step guide on how to install the RLINK Cellular Motorcycle Security System:
1. Make sure that your motorcycle battery is fully charged and that no moving parts will interfere with the components.
2. Avoid routing wires near sharp edges that could cut the wires and create a short circuit. Also, do not mount the components near high heat sources such as exhaust pipes.
3. Select a suitable location under the seat or side cover where the RLINK module can lay as flat as possible.
4. The RLINK harness has three wires: red, black, and white. Connect the red wire's terminal ring directly to the battery's positive post and the black wire's terminal ring directly to the battery's negative post.
5. Locate the 12-volt switched wire source on your motorcycle. Common sources are the tail light power wire (not the brake light), the license plate light power wire, or some accessory plugs. Consult the provided list of common tail light power wire colors for different motorcycle brands.
6. Install the white wire with the Positap connector to a 12-volt switched source using the provided Quick Connector. For example, you can connect it to the tail light or license plate light power wire. Remove the cap on the open end of the Quick Connector, insert the switched power wire of the vehicle into the slot, and tighten the cap back on.
7. Plug the installation harness into the RLINK module and secure the module with the included hook & loop/cable ties.
8. To disconnect the RLINK device without triggering the backup battery, turn on the ignition switch and unplug the main harness within 5 seconds. This is also the method to do a device reset.
9. Once the installation is complete, confirm that there are lights illuminated on the RLINK module to ensure good power and ground. Turn the ignition switch of the motorcycle to the "on" position and check that a red light is now illuminated solid on the RLINK module. The red light will start blinking after a few seconds.
