The installation process for the Cerwin Vega XED693 coaxial speakers is outlined in the user manual. Here are the steps:
1. Tweeter Installation: Determine the desired location for the tweeters and ensure it can accommodate the required hole sizes and depth. The tweeters can be flush mounted or surface mounted atop the dash, door, or rear deck. Follow the provided illustrations for flush mount installation, which requires cutting a 1.75" (45mm) round opening. Make sure there is at least 1 inch (25.4mm) of clearance behind the panel. Connect the tweeter to the speaker wires and snap it into the mounting cup.
2. Crossover Installation: Install the passive crossovers in a well-ventilated area, preferably behind the door panel instead of inside the door itself to avoid water damage. Connect the input side labeled "AMP" of each passive crossover to the amplifier's speaker output terminals, observing correct polarity. Connect the middle terminals labeled "MID" to the midrange speaker and the end terminals labeled "TWT" to the tweeter, again ensuring correct polarity.
3. Speaker Installation: Choose the location for speaker installation, such as the rear deck. There are two primary methods: top mounting and bottom mounting. Top mounting involves dropping the speakers in through the deck, while bottom mounting secures the speakers from underneath (trunk). Whichever method you choose, make sure to seal the speakers to ensure there are no air leaks around their frames.
