Installing the White-Rodgers Emerson 1F80-361 programmable thermostat is a relatively simple process. Here are the step-by-step instructions:
1. Shut off the electricity at the main fuse box before starting the installation.
2. Remove the front cover of your old thermostat and disconnect the wires from the terminals. Make sure to label the wires for easy identification.
3. Remove the old thermostat's wall plate from the wall.
4. Take the new White-Rodgers Emerson 1F80-361 thermostat and attach the base to the wall using the provided mounting screws. Use a level to ensure the base is straight.
5. Connect the wires from your HVAC system to the corresponding terminals on the thermostat's base. Refer to the wiring schematic in the manual or the labels on the thermostat for guidance.
6. If you have a two-wire heat-only installation, leave the jumper in place between the RH and RC terminals. Otherwise, remove the jumper and store it in a safe place.
