1. Turn off power: Before starting the installation, make sure to turn off the power to your heating and cooling system at the main fuse or circuit breaker box.
2. Remove the old thermostat cover: Carefully remove the front cover of your old thermostat from the wall base. Some covers may require the use of a screwdriver to release them.
3. Label wires: Using a screwdriver, unscrew one wire at a time from the terminal block of the old thermostat and attach the corresponding wire label sticker. Take a picture or make note of how the wires are connected to the terminals for reference.
4. Identify jumper wire: If you have a heat pump with a reversing valve, you may need to connect the Y and W terminals with a jumper wire on the new thermostat. Contact Customer Support at 877.654.9394 or email wr.techsupport@emerson.com if you need assistance.
5. Remove the old thermostat base: With all the wires disconnected and labeled, safely remove the old thermostat base from the wall.
6. Mount the new thermostat base: Use the supplied screws to mount the new thermostat base to the wall. If necessary, drill holes and insert wall anchors to secure the base.
7. Connect wires to terminal blocks: Match each labeled wire to its corresponding terminal on the new thermostat base. Insert each wire into the hole of its matching terminal and tighten the xxxx securely.
8. Set switch and advanced wiring: Set the switch to GAS if you have a gas or oil furnace, or ELEC if you have an electric furnace. Install the included AAA alkaline batteries and attach the front cover to the thermostat base.
9. Turn on power: Turn on the power to your heating and cooling system at the source.
