Wiring the Honeywell Home CT410B thermostat to a 240-volt electric heater is a straightforward process. Here are the step-by-step instructions:
1. Turn off the power to the heating circuit at the main service panel to ensure safety.
2. Remove the cover of the old thermostat by pulling it firmly from the bottom. If there is a xxxx that locks the cover, make sure to remove it.
3. Loosen the screws holding the thermostat base to the outlet box and lift it away.
4. Disconnect the wires from the old thermostat. As you disconnect each wire, tape the end and label it with the letter of the terminal designation to make reconnection easier.
5. Check the old insulation for cracks, nicks, or fraying, and apply high-quality plastic tape if necessary for adequate insulation.
6. Retain the old thermostat for reference purposes until the new thermostat is functioning smoothly.
7. Remove the cover of the Honeywell Home CT410B thermostat by grasping the top and bottom ends and pulling outward.
8. Connect the wires to the thermostat according to the applicable wiring diagram. Push the wires into the outlet box and insert the thermostat into the box for mounting by pushing against the top and bottom of the thermostat base.
9. Secure the thermostat to the box with the two captive mounting screws provided.
10. Replace the thermostat cover.
11. Set the xxxx on the thermostat to the desired room temperature.
12. Turn on the power to the heating system.
13. Turn the setting xxxx all the way clockwise and listen for a clicking sound as the switch makes contact. The electric heater should begin operation.
14. Turn the xxxx all the way counterclockwise and listen for a clicking sound as the switch breaks contact. The electric heater should shut off.
