The Craftsman CMXZRAZW822 Emergency Weather Alert Radio can be charged in three different ways.
1. Hand Crank: To charge the radio using the hand crank, pull out the crank located on the back of the radio until it is completely extended towards the opposite side. Crank the handle clockwise or counter-clockwise in a steady and continuous motion, aiming for approximately 150-180 revolutions per minute. The Charge/Power light on the front of the radio will turn on, indicating that the rechargeable battery is receiving power.
2. USB Charging: Connect a micro USB charger to the DC IN 5V port on the radio and the other end to a power source. After approximately 4-6 hours, your radio will be fully charged and ready for use.
3. Solar Charging: Remove the protective plastic film from the solar panels on the radio. Face the solar panel directly towards the sun for approximately 20 hours to achieve a full charge. After this period, you can use the radio for FM/AM/NOAA/ALERT reception or charge a mobile device.
It's important to note that when charging the radio, make sure the radio and light are turned off, and all output charging cables are disconnected. Additionally, the built-in rechargeable battery can be extended by recharging it every 90 days when the radio is being stored.
