To install the DS18 Hydro NXL-6 marine speakers, follow these steps:
1. Before starting the installation, read and understand the instructions provided in the owner's manual.
2. For safety, disconnect the negative battery terminal from the battery before beginning the installation.
3. It is recommended to run all wires before mounting the speakers in place for easier assembly.
4. Use high-quality connectors to ensure a reliable installation and minimize signal or power loss.
5. Be cautious not to cut or drill into gas tanks, fuel lines, brake or hydraulic lines, vacuum lines, or electrical wiring when working on any vehicle. If installing in a boat, avoid cutting or drilling through the main hull.
6. Avoid running wires underneath the vehicle. Running the wires inside the vehicle or hull area provides better protection.
7. Use rubber or plastic grommets to protect any wires routed through metal, especially the firewall.
8. Determine the mounting location for the speakers. Ensure that the area is large enough for the speaker to mount and deep enough for the speaker to fit. Only mount to a flat surface. Take extra caution when mounting on panels with urethane foam.
9. Refer to the specification chart in the manual to determine the proper diameter hole to cut for your specific speaker model.
10. Mark the locations for the mounting screws and drill the holes using a 1/8" bit.
11. Feed the speaker wires through the cutout and connect them to the speaker terminals. Ensure proper polarity when connecting the wires. The positive terminal is indicated with a "+" symbol.
12. Fit the speaker and mount into place using six (6) screws.
13. Tighten the screws until the speaker is snugly in place.
