To assemble the Music Hall M7.1W turntable without a cartridge, please follow these steps:
1. Clear a level and suitable workspace to assemble the turntable.
2. Put on the white cotton gloves provided in the packaging.
3. Remove the turntable and all parts from the carton. Note that a short gray piece of plastic pipe found underneath the turntable is not used and can be set aside.
4. xxxx the three spiked feet onto the threaded screws on the bottom of the turntable. Use the spike protectors underneath the spikes to prevent damage to your surface.
5. Level the turntable by adjusting the spiked feet using the bubble level provided.
6. Remove the three transport screws from the turntable and save them for future use.
7. Gather the three motor components: the round motor base, the wall transformer, and the motor itself. Place the round motor base underneath the motor cutout on the left front of the turntable. Center the motor base in the cutout.
8. Carefully place the motor onto the motor base, making sure the socket for connection to the wall transformer is towards the back.
9. Run the wire from the wall transformer under the turntable and plug it into the socket on the lower back of the motor.
10. Center the platter over the spindle of the sub-platter and lower it until it rests securely on the sub-platter.
11. Install the drive belt for 33⅓ rpm play by looping the belt around the smaller diameter rim of the stepped motor pulley and around the rim of the platter. For 45 rpm play, use the large diameter rim of the motor pulley.
12. Place the counterweight onto the tonearm by screwing it counterclockwise onto the back of the tonearm.
13. Remove the tonearm-locking strap and set it aside for possible future transport.
14. Make sure the tonearm is in the tonearm rest. Remove the stylus guard from the cartridge by pulling it towards you in a slight downward motion. Save the stylus guard for future use.
15. Balance the tonearm by holding it between the tonearm rest and the platter, making sure the cartridge does not touch the turntable base. Turn the counterweight counterclockwise or clockwise until the tonearm floats freely and parallel to the platter.
16. Set the tracking force by adjusting the counterweight. The recommended tracking force for the Goldring Eroica H cartridge is 1.75g. Note that the tracking force scale on the counterweight does not have a decimal point, so 17-18 on the scale corresponds to 1.75g.
17. Attach the anti-skating weight to the anti-skating rod and hanger, ensuring it is dangling freely to the left of the hanger.
18. Slide the dust cover onto the dust cover hinges on the back of the plinth and adjust the tightness of the hinges using the dust cover hinge screws.
19. The turntable is now assembled and ready for use.
