To connect the Energy CB-20 bookshelf speakers to your audio system, you will need high-quality speaker cables. The speakers have gold-plated binding post connectors that can accept various connector types such as spade lugs, banana jacks, or pin type connectors.
Here are the steps to connect your speakers:
1. Start with one speaker and connect one channel at a time, starting with the front speakers.
2. Make sure the entire audio/video system is powered off before making any connections.
3. Match the positive and negative terminals of the speaker with the corresponding terminals on your receiver or amplifier. If they do not match, it can result in abnormal sound and a lack of bass response.
4. After connecting the front speakers, connect the rest of the speakers to their appropriate channels on the receiver or amplifier.
There are three connection methods explained in the manual:
- Traditional Connection Method: Connect the speaker wire to the lower set of connectors, ensuring the terminals are tight.
- Bi-Wire Method (for CF-30, CF-50, CF-70 models): Remove the gold "shorting straps" that connect the top and bottom set of input terminals. Connect one speaker cable from the amplifier to the top set of connectors and another cable from the same channel of the amplifier to the lower set of connectors.
- Bi-Amplification Method (for CF-30, CF-50, CF-70 models): Remove the gold "shorting straps" and connect one speaker cable from one amplifier to the top set of connectors and another cable from the other channel of the amplifier to the bottom set of connectors. Repeat this for the second speaker using the second amplifier.
Remember to ensure a secure and tight connection for optimal sound quality.
