To set up the ELAC DCR52 center channel speaker, follow these steps:
1. Speaker Placement: Position the speaker above or below your television, aligning it with the center of the TV. Try to keep the DCR52 at the same height as your front speakers for an even sound stage. Tilt the center speaker up or down if necessary to aim it towards the listening area.
2. Outrigger Feet & Spike Installation (DFR52 Only): If you have the DFR52 model, you can use the included outrigger feet and spikes for stability. Carefully attach the outrigger feet using the provided machine screws. xxxx in the spikes and adjust their height until all four spikes are touching the floor. Use the supplied covers to lock the spikes into place.
3. Connecting Wires: Use appropriate gauge wires (minimum 16 gauge) to connect the speaker to your amplifier or receiver. Make sure to connect the positive (red) wire to the positive terminal and the negative wire to the negative terminal. Strip off approximately 1/2" of insulation from the ends of the speaker cable and insert the bare strands into the binding posts.
4. Speaker Grills: The mesh grills of the DCR52 are removable. To remove the grill, hold the top or bottom edges and pull gently. To replace the grill, align the edges with the cabinet and let the magnets hold it in place.
5. Speaker Setup: For stereo setup, create an equilateral triangle between the speakers and your listening position. Angle the speakers (toe in) towards the listening position if they are too far apart. In a surround sound setup, place the surround speakers wider apart than the front speakers and elevate them to the same height or slightly higher. Experiment with positioning the rear surround speakers to optimize the sound field.
6. Center Speaker Settings: Set your receiver/processor center channel size to small for optimal results with the DCR52. If available, set the crossover frequency to 80Hz.
