To achieve optimal sound quality, it is recommended to position the NHT N-C LCR Black Theater 3-Way Center Channel Speaker as follows:
1. If using the speaker as a center channel, place it horizontally as close as possible immediately above or below the television, with the tweeter closest to the TV.
2. If using the speaker as the main left and right or rear surrounds, its dispersion characteristics allow for horizontal or vertical orientation.
3. For the best stereo imaging and detail, place the speakers farther away from room boundaries. A distance of 6" - 12" from the rear wall is recommended if possible.
4. Experiment with speaker placement in your own listening environment to find the sound you like best. Small changes in position can have a notable effect on sound quality.
5. Consider the room furnishings as they can impact the sound. Soft furnishings tend to absorb mid and high frequencies, while hard surfaces and sparse furnishings tend to have the opposite effect.
Remember to position the speakers 1.5 times as far away from you as they are from each other, keep tweeter height close to ear level, and keep the speakers flush with the front edge of shelves or cabinets.
For surround systems, follow the basic setup shown in the manual and place the center channel speaker right above or below the TV. Rear speakers should be placed in an equilateral triangle with the listening position, at least 5' apart. Rear speakers should be at the same height or higher than the front channels.
