To install the Woods L1706 Security Light, please follow these step-by-step instructions:
1. Unpack and Examine the Light: Open the package and check that every part—light fixture, mounting hardware, etc.—is present and undamaged.
2. Cut-Off Power: To prevent any electrical hazards, cut off the power to the area where the light will be mounted before beginning any installation.
3. Pick a Mounting Location: Decide on a ceiling spot where the light can cover the most ground. Installing it over a driveway, patio, or doorway is ideal.
4. Verify Adequate Wiring: Make sure the installation area has a standard bulb socket and the necessary electrical wiring to support the 150W incandescent bulb (not included).
5. Installation of the Mounting Hardware: Attach the fixture to the ceiling using the screws and mounting bracket that come with it. Verify that the fixture is firmly fixed and level.
6. Attach Electrical Wires: Use wire nuts to attach the light fixture's electrical wires to the matching wires in your ceiling (usually black to black, white to white, and ground to ground).
7. Secure the Light Fixture: After wiring the fixture, tighten the nuts or screws holding it to the ceiling mount, making sure the fixture is firmly in place.
8. Put the Bulb in: Put a 150W incandescent lightbulb (not supplied) into the light fixture's standard base socket. Make sure the threading is correct.
9. Replace the Protective Glass Shield: For safety and protection, make sure the tempered glass shield is securely fastened around the lightbulb.
10. Set the Timer: To program when the light should turn on and off, use the timer option. An external timer unit or the built-in timer control can be used for this.
11. Check for Functionality: To make sure the light is operating correctly, turn on the power source and test it. Make sure the light is bright enough and that the timer is working.
12. If the light has any adjustable components, like a tilting fixture, change the angle so that it focuses on the target location, such as a driveway or sidewalk.
13. Secure the Light Shield: To prevent the glass shield from falling free or breaking while being used, make sure it is firmly and securely fastened.
14. Recheck Wiring Connections: To avoid electrical problems, make sure all wiring connections are secure and connected correctly by checking them twice.
15. Lastly, make sure the light stays on and off according to your timed settings by turning it on and testing its functionality.
