To install the VERTIV PST5 Liebert Uninterruptible Power Supply, follow these steps:
1. Unpack the UPS and inspect it for any shipping damage. If there is any damage, report it to the carrier and your local dealer or Vertiv representative.
2. Prepare the installation environment. The UPS should be installed indoors in a controlled environment, away from water, flammable liquids, gases, corrosives, and conductive contaminants. Ensure there is unrestricted airflow around the unit and avoid direct sunlight.
3. Find a suitable location for the UPS. Maintain at least 4 inches of clearance in the front and rear to allow for proper ventilation.
4. Connect the loads. The UPS has 4 battery-backed outlets and surge-protected receptacles, as well as 4 surge-protected-only receptacles. Plug your critical equipment into the battery-backed outlets and less critical equipment into the surge-only outlets. Make sure not to exceed the output-load rating of the UPS.
5. Connect for network or telephone protection (optional). If you want to protect your computer network or telephone from electrical surges, use the network/telephone surge-protection ports on the rear panel. Connect the "IN" port to the line from the wall jack and the "OUT" port to your device port.
6. Connect for television/cable protection (optional, for PST5-660MT120 and PST5-850MT120 models only). If you want to protect your cable modem, DSS receiver, or cable-TV connection, use the coax surge-protection ports on the rear panel. Connect the "IN" port to the line from the wall jack and the "OUT" port to your device port.
7. Connect the UPS to your computer for USB communication (optional). If you want to monitor the UPS and enable controlled shutdown of your computer in case of a power failure, connect the provided USB cable from the USB Type-B port on the side panel of the UPS to an open USB port on your computer.
8. Connect the AC input. Ensure that all loads are powered off. Connect the UPS to an input-power supply or wall outlet that is properly protected by a circuit breaker in accordance with national and local electrical codes. The input receptacle must be grounded.
9. Allow the UPS to charge the battery. While every precaution has been taken to ensure that the battery is in good condition, it is recommended to allow the UPS to be plugged into AC input and charge the battery for at least 12 hours before relying on it for full backup time protection.
