To set up the Fish Mate F14 Automatic Fish Feeder, follow these steps:
1. Positioning of feeder: Place the feeder on the aquarium hood with its food exit spout positioned over the feeding hole provided in the aquarium hood. If your aquarium does not have a feeding hole, you will need to cut a hole with a diameter of 30mm (1 1/4"). Avoid installing the feeder on the condensation tray, as excessive moisture can cause food clogging. However, if you connect an air pump to the small connector marked "AIR" under the feeder, it can prevent the ingress of moist air.
2. Operation: Turn the feeder upside down and remove the timer cover. Insert an AA battery and switch on the timing mechanism. Check the battery operation by observing the visible movement of the gearwheel. Replace the timer cover.
3. Setting the mealtime: Insert the mealtime pegs in the required locations in the timer xxxx . The feeder comes with 4 mealtime pegs, but extras are available if needed. Set the time on the inner dial by rotating the timer xxxx anti-clockwise until the current time lines up with the indicator arrow. The food will be dispensed gradually over a period of approximately 2 hours, which is better for the fish.
4. Filling the compartments: Fill the required number of compartments in the rotor, starting clockwise from the food exit spout for the first meal. Close the lid.
5. Testing before use: It is recommended to supervise the correct operation of the feeder over a fourteen-day period when you are present before using it for the first time. This allows you to identify any issues such as food clogging or dispensing problems. If clogging occurs, try using pellet food or adjusting the location of the air pump.
