The Ivation IVACCT20 Electric Charcoal Starter typically takes about 8-10 minutes to ignite charcoal fully. It is important to not leave the unit in charcoal for more than eight minutes, as the sheath may rupture if allowed to approach its melting point. If the unit remains plugged into an outlet while under the coals for longer than eight minutes, the unit may explode. Always monitor the charcoal starter while it is in use and disconnect it from the outlet after the charcoal has ignited.
