To install the Garmin Transom/Trolling Motor Mount Dual Beam Transducer on your boat, please follow these step-by-step instructions:
1. Choose a suitable mounting location on the transom of your boat, keeping in mind the mounting location considerations mentioned in the user guide.
2. Cut out the provided template and align it vertically on the transom at the chosen installation location.
3. Mark the center location of the two holes on the template.
4. Remove the template and use a 4 mm (5/32 in.) drill bit to drill pilot holes approximately 18 mm (7/10 in.) deep at the marked locations.
5. Apply marine sealant to the included 20 mm screws and attach the transducer assembly to the transom.
6. Route the transducer cable under the transom mount cable hook.
7. If necessary, route the cable through the transom by drilling a pilot hole well above the waterline and installing a cable clamp.
8. If routing the cable through the transom, push it through the pass-through hole and install the cable-entry cover using marine sealant.
9. If not routing the cable through the transom, route the cable up and over the top of the transom, avoiding electrical wires or other sources of interference.
10. Install the cable-entry cover over the cable and hole, pointing the opening downward, and secure it with marine sealant.
11. Test the installation by turning on the chart plotter and driving the boat at a slow speed. Gradually increase speed while observing the chart plotter to ensure proper functionality.
12. If the sonar signal is lost or degraded, adjust the transducer depth by small increments until the signal improves.
13. If necessary, move the transducer to a different location on the transom and repeat the test.
14. For trolling motor installation, assemble the trolling motor mount and attach it to the transducer using the provided screws and washers.
15. Route the transducer cable inside the mount to a cable exit that allows the cable to be on the top side of the trolling motor housing when stowed.
16. Attach the transducer mount to the body of the trolling motor using hose clamps, ensuring it is parallel to the bottom when in use.
17. Secure the transducer cable to the trolling motor shaft using waterproof tape, avoiding pinching or bending the cable too tightly.
Please refer to the user guide for additional information and safety precautions.
