Threading the Flying Banana A239 sewing machine is a simple process. Here are the step-by-step instructions:
1. Start by turning off the machine and unplugging it from the power source.
2. Raise the needle to its highest position using the handwheel.
3. Take the thread spool and place it on the spool pin located at the top of the machine.
4. Pull out the thread from the spool and guide it through the thread guide located on the top of the machine, usually marked with an arrow.
5. Bring the thread down and pass it through the tension discs. Make sure the thread is properly seated in the discs.
6. Continue guiding the thread downwards, passing it through the take-up lever. The take-up lever is a small hook-like mechanism located at the top of the machine.
7. From the take-up lever, bring the thread down and pass it through the thread guide located above the needle.
8. Thread the needle by inserting the thread through the eye of the needle from front to back. You can use the needle threader included in the accessories if needed.
9. Pull a few inches of thread through the needle, leaving a tail.
10. Lower the presser foot to secure the thread in place.
11. To ensure proper tension, hold the thread tail with your left hand and turn the handwheel towards you to lower the needle into the fabric. Then, pull the thread tail gently to feel the tension.
12. Once you have threaded the machine, you are ready to start sewing.
