The Kaito KA500 radio can be charged in multiple ways. Here are the different methods:
1. Crank Power: The radio has a hand crank generator. Simply turn the crank handle for about one minute to generate power. This will charge the built-in rechargeable batteries.
2. AA Batteries: The radio has a battery compartment on the back. Open the compartment and insert 3 AA batteries (not included) making sure the polarity is correct. This will power the radio.
3. Solar Power: Set the power selector to SOLAR/CRANK. The solar panel on the back of the unit will charge the built-in rechargeable batteries when exposed to sunlight or natural light indoors. You can also charge the batteries by placing the radio near a window or in direct sunlight.
4. AC Power: You can use an AC adapter (optional) to power the radio. Plug the adapter into a standard electric outlet and then connect it to the "DC IN" jack on the back of the unit. This method can also be used to charge the internal rechargeable batteries.
5. Power via computer USB cable: The radio has a USB jack on the back. You can connect it to your computer's USB port using a standard USB cable. Set the Charging Selector to "IN" and the Power Selector to SOLAR/CRANK. The radio will operate and charge the built-in battery using the USB power.
Please note that it is recommended to charge the battery 8 hours or less for the first-time use. For more detailed instructions and information, you can refer to the user manual provided with the radio.
