To clean the MR. COFFEE ECM160 Cappuccino Maker, follow these steps:
1. After brewing, make sure to use the Filter Retainer Clip to discard the coffee grounds. Be careful as the metal parts of the Filter Holder may still be hot. You can cool these parts by running them under cold water.
2. Once the machine has cooled down and the pressure has been released, remove the Filter Holder by sliding the handle to the left away from the Lock position. Empty the grounds using the Filter Retainer Clip to hold the Filter in place.
3. Remove the Frothing Aid and wipe the Frothing Arm with a damp cloth. You can use the Wrench built into the Scoop to unscrew the Frothing Tip and clean the valve with a needle or toothpick.
4. The Glass Carafe, Glass Carafe Lid, Filter, Filter Holder, and Drip Tray can be washed with soapy water.
5. Wipe the housing of the machine with a soft wet cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or scouring pads as they may scratch the finish.
For deliming the Water Reservoir, follow these steps:
1. Make sure the Control xxxx is in the "OFF" position and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
2. If the appliance is cool and the pressure has been released, remove the Water Reservoir Cap and fill the Reservoir with fresh, undiluted white household vinegar.
3. Allow the appliance to sit overnight with the vinegar solution in the Water Reservoir.
4. Discard the vinegar through the top opening of the Espresso Maker by turning the machine upside down over the sink.
5. Rinse the Water Reservoir thoroughly with tap water by filling it halfway and then pouring the water back out into the sink. Repeat this step twice.
To clean the Carafe, you can use a solution of equal parts white vinegar and hot water. Let the solution stand in the Carafe for about 20 minutes and then discard it. Wash and rinse the Carafe thoroughly using a soft cloth. Avoid using harsh abrasive cleaners.
