Cleaning and descaling your Nespresso VertuoPlus Coffee and Espresso Machine is essential for maintaining its performance and ensuring the longevity of the appliance. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to clean and descale your machine, as supported by the user manual:
1. Cleaning the Machine:
- Before cleaning, ensure that the machine is turned off and unplugged.
- Remove the water tank and empty any remaining water.
- Clean the water tank, drip tray, and capsule container with warm water and a mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Use a damp cloth to clean the machine's exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Reassemble the machine and plug it back in.
2. Descaling the Machine:
- Descaling should be performed regularly, approximately every three months or as indicated by the machine's descaling alert.
- Fill the water tank with 0.8 liters of water and add a Nespresso descaling solution according to the instructions on the package.
- Place a container capable of holding at least 1.5 liters under the coffee outlet.
- Turn on the machine and wait until the button light becomes steady.
- Press and hold the button for at least seven seconds to start the descaling process. The machine will dispense the descaling solution in intervals. The process takes around 20 minutes.
- Once the descaling process is complete, empty and rinse the water tank thoroughly.
- Fill the water tank with fresh water and run a rinse cycle by pressing the button. Repeat this step twice to ensure all descaling solution is removed.
- Clean the water tank, drip tray, and capsule container as mentioned in the cleaning section.
- Your machine is now ready to use.
