To make crepes with the Proctor Silex Electric Crepe Maker, follow these steps:
1. Prepare crepe batter according to the recipe you are using.
2. Plug in the crepe maker and slide the temperature control to the desired heat setting. The temperature control ranges from 1 (lowest heat) to 8 (highest heat). For your first time, start with a medium heat setting, such as 4.
3. Spray the cooking surface lightly with cooking spray or add 1 teaspoon (5 g) of butter. Wait until the butter is melted.
4. Using the batter cup provided, pour 1/2 cup (118 ml) of batter onto the cooking surface for a small crepe, or 3/4 cup (177 ml) for a large crepe.
5. Quickly place the batter spreader in the center of the batter and move it clockwise or counterclockwise, spreading the mixture out for a thin crepe. The batter spreader helps to evenly distribute the batter on the cooking surface.
6. Cook the crepe for 1 to 2 minutes, or until the bottom is lightly browned. If you prefer a darker crepe, you can adjust the temperature control to increase the heat.
7. If desired, use the spatula provided to carefully flip the crepe over and cook for an additional minute on the other side.
8. Remove the cooked crepe from the crepe maker and place it on a platter. Cover the crepe to keep it warm while you make the remaining crepes.
9. After you have finished cooking all the crepes, move the temperature control to the lowest setting (1), unplug the crepe maker, and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
