To test RJ45 cables using the Jonard Tools MCT-468 Modular Cable Tester, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the tester is powered on by switching it to the "On" position.
2. Connect one end of the RJ45 cable to the main unit of the tester and the other end to the remote unit.
3. The tester will automatically start the testing process. The LED lights on both the main and remote units will indicate the test results.
4. Check the LED lights on both units. If all the lights are green, it indicates that the cable is properly connected and has no faults.
5. If any of the LED lights are red or off, it indicates a fault in the cable. Refer to the user manual for the specific LED light patterns and their corresponding meanings.
6. If a fault is detected, you can use the LED light patterns to identify the type of fault, such as an open circuit, short circuit, or miswiring.
7. Once the testing is complete, disconnect the cable from the tester.
It is important to note that the MCT-468 Modular Cable Tester can also test RJ11 and RJ12 cables using the same procedure. Additionally, the tester can identify problems such as open circuits, short circuits, and miswiring in the cables.
