To program the GE JAS34456 Universal Remote Control, follow these steps:
1. Install Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the back of the remote control and insert two AAA batteries, making sure to match the positive (+) and negative (-) ends correctly.
2. Find the Codes for the Devices: Look for the appropriate device codes for the electronic gadgets you want to control. You can find the codes on the GE website or in the manual that came with the remote.
3. Put the Device into Operation: Start up the electronic device you want to control, such as your TV, DVD player, or cable box.
4. Programming Mode: Press and hold the "Setup" button on the remote until the red indicator light stays illuminated. Then release the "Setup" button.
5. Enter Device Code: Use the number pad on the remote control to enter the code for your specific device. If the code is valid, the red indicator light will flash several times before turning off. If it doesn't work, try another code for the same type of device.
6. Test the Remote Control: Point the remote at the device you want to control and press the power button or any other function button to check if the device responds. If it does, the programming was successful. If not, try another code or start the process again from step 4.
7. Program Additional Devices (Optional): If you want to control more devices with the remote, repeat the process from step 3 for each additional device.
8. Save the Codes (Auto Code Search): If you can't find the code for a particular device, you can use the Auto Code Search feature instead. Activate the device and, while holding down the "Setup" button, ensure the red indicator light stays illuminated. Press the "Device" button and select the appropriate option (e.g., TV or DVD). Keep pressing the "Power" button repeatedly until the device powers off. The device will transmit a sequence of codes to determine the correct one. Once the device turns off, press the "OK/Enter" button to save the code.
9. Finish the Setup: After programming all your devices, press the "Setup" button to exit the programming mode. Your devices should now be controllable with the remote.
