To mount the Bowers & Wilkins M-1 Satellite Speaker on the wall, follow these steps:
1. Check that you have the wall bracket and cover included in the package. If they are clipped together, pull them apart if required for installation.
2. Decide on the positioning of the speakers based on the type of installation you want. Refer to Figures 2-6 in the user manual for guidance on speaker placement for different setups.
3. If you want to mount the speaker on the wall in portrait orientation with the bracket hidden behind the speaker, you will need to change the position of the ball socket from the bottom to the center of the speaker. Follow the instructions in the manual to remove the table stand base and turn the back cover.
4. Determine how you want to route the speaker cable to the wall bracket. You can choose to route the cable on the wall surface, chase it into the plasterwork, or place it inside hollow (drywall) construction.
5. If routing the cable inside the wall or in the plaster layer, install it before fixing the wall bracket in place and leave 50mm (2 in) showing with the outer sheath stripped back. Take care to route the cable clear of where the bracket fixing screws will be.
6. If laying the cable on the wall surface, fit the wall bracket first. The cable must approach from the direction indicated by the knock-out in the cover.
7. Use a spirit level to ensure the wall bracket is level, then mark out and drill the fixing holes in the wall. Plug the wall as appropriate to the type of construction.
8. Strip back the ends of the inner cores of the speaker cable to expose 10mm (3/8 in) of bare wire. Neatly twist the wires if using multi-strand cable. Connect the wires to the xxxx terminals on the back of the speaker, observing the correct polarity.
9. Remove the table stand base from the speaker and slide the cover up the stem. Make sure the securing clamp is clear of the stem aperture in the bracket and push the end of the speaker stem fully into the aperture. Tighten the two screws through the securing clamp evenly using the Torx key supplied. Check that the tapered ridge of the clamp engages the groove in the stem. Do not over-tighten.
10. Slide the cover back down the stem and click it into place on the wall bracket.
By following these steps, you should be able to successfully mount the Bowers & Wilkins M-1 Satellite Speaker on the wall for your home theater setup. For more detailed instructions and illustrations, refer to the user manual provided with the product.
