To jump-start your car using the Schumacher SC1309 Battery Charger-Engine Starter, follow these steps:
1. Make sure the charger is turned off and unplugged from the AC power outlet.
2. Connect the red clamp from the charger to the positive terminal of the dead battery.
3. Connect the black clamp from the charger to a grounded metal part of the vehicle, away from the battery.
4. Plug the charger into the AC power outlet.
5. Set the ON/OFF switch to the Engine Start position.
6. If the battery is properly connected, the yellow/orange 200A Engine Start LED will light up solid and the display will show "ON".
7. Crank the engine until it starts or for a maximum of 5 seconds. If the engine does not start, wait a few minutes before cranking again to allow the charger and battery to cool down.
8. After the engine starts, move the switch to the OFF position and unplug the AC power cord before disconnecting the clamps from the battery and vehicle.
