To install the Garmin GT20-TM Trolling Motor Mount on your trolling motor, please follow these step-by-step instructions:
1. Assemble the Transducer with a Transom Mount Bracket:
a. Attach mount 1 to transducer 2 using the included star washers 3 and screws 4.
b. Attach the mount to bracket 5 using bolt 6, rubber washer 7, flat washer 8, and lock nut 9. Make sure the bolt is tight enough to hold the transducer in place during high-speed movement but loose enough to allow the transducer to pivot if it hits an obstruction.
2. Install the Transom-Mount Hardware:
a. Cut out the provided template.
b. Align the template vertically on the transom at the desired installation location, considering the mounting location considerations mentioned in the installation instructions.
c. Mark the center location of the two holes on the template.
d. Remove the template from the transom.
e. Use a 4 mm (5/32 in.) drill bit to drill pilot holes approximately 18 mm (7/10 in.) deep at the marked locations.
f. Apply marine sealant to the included 20 mm screws and install them in the pilot holes.
g. Route the transducer cable under the transom mount cable hook.
h. If necessary, route the cable through the transom by drilling a pass-through hole above the waterline and securing it with a cable clamp.
i. Route the transducer cable to the sounder, avoiding routing it close to electrical wires or other sources of electrical interference.
3. Install the Cable-Entry Cover:
a. Place the cable-entry cover over the hole and the cable, with the opening pointing downward.
b. Mark the location of the two pilot holes.
c. Remove the cable-entry cover and use a 3.2 mm (1/8 in.) drill bit to drill pilot holes approximately 10 mm (3/8 in.) deep at the marked locations.
d. Fill the pass-through hole with marine sealant, ensuring it covers the cable completely and there is excess sealant around the hole and the cable.
e. Place the cable-entry cover over the hole and the cable, with the opening pointing downward.
f. Apply marine sealant to the included 12 mm M4 screws and attach the cable-entry cover to the transom.
g. Wipe away any excess marine sealant.
