Since sliding doors design vary based upon manufacturer, it's hard to accurately answer this request. However, if you can adhere both items of this product side by side - one being stationary, the other being the movable piece, then it will work just fine. In other words, when the sliding door is in the closed position, you must be able to install this product in such a way that when the door is opened, the two pieces "break contact" with one another thereby sounding the very loud and high-pitched alarm.
