Setting up the ASUS SRT-AC1900 OnHub Google WiFi Router is a straightforward process. Here are the step-by-step instructions:
1. Prepare your modem:
- Unplug the AC adapter from the power outlet and disconnect it from your cable/ADSL modem.
- Disconnect the network cable from your cable/ADSL modem.
- Reboot your computer.
2. Set up your wireless environment:
- Insert your wireless router's AC adapter into the DC-IN port and plug it into a power outlet.
- Using another network cable, connect your modem to your wireless router's WAN port.
- Insert your modem's AC adapter into the DC-IN port and plug it into a power outlet.
- Using the bundled network cable, connect your computer to your wireless router's LAN port.
- Disable some settings on your computer:
- Disable the proxy server, if enabled.
- Set the TCP/IP settings to automatically obtain an IP address.
- Disable the dial-up connection, if enabled.
3. Setting up your router using the Quick Internet Setup Wizard:
- Plug in the adapter at the back of your router and ensure that the LED in the front is on.
- Launch your web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, or Safari).
- If the Quick Internet Setup (QIS) does not launch automatically, enter http://192.168.1.1 or http://router.asus.com in the address bar and refresh the browser.
- Assign your router login name and password and click Next. Take note of your login name and password for future use.
- The QIS wizard will automatically detect your ISP connection type. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
4. Connect to the wireless network:
- Enable the Wi-Fi function on your wireless client (notebook, tablet PC, smartphone, etc.).
- Select the SSID or network name that you assigned to your SRT-AC1900 network.
- Enter the password and click Connect.
