To install the Valcom V-9010 Surface Mount Vandal Resistant Speaker, follow these steps:
1. Make the necessary connections to the speaker.
2. Secure the enclosure assembly to the base using four #10 stainless steel hex button head machine screws. Use a standard 1/8 inch hex driver for this step.
3. The base of the V-9010 can be mounted to a standard 4-inch square or octagon-shaped electrical box. Alternatively, you can fasten it to a wall or ceiling using screws as large as 1/4 inch. Surface wiring or conduit can be routed through one of the four standard knockouts.
4. Ensure that the volume control is turned up (clockwise) to avoid any audio issues.
5. If there is no audio coming from the speaker, check the audio level on the Tip and Ring leads using a lineman's test set. Also, verify the audio level at the source.
6. In case of low volume, check that the volume control is turned up and the voltage at the speaker assembly is between -18 to -24VDC.
7. If you experience loud squealing or feedback, turn down the volume of the speaker, increase the distance between the telephone and the speaker, install a noise-canceling handset on the telephone, or consider using a V-9962 Digital Feedback Eliminator.
