To install the RKPW081915 PDU, follow these steps:
1. Locate an appropriate location on the rack and mount the unit against the front or rear mounting posts. The PDU takes up 1U of rack space.
2. Use the mounting hardware (screws, nuts, etc.) provided with your rack or from your rack manufacturer to secure the unit to the posts.
3. Connect the power cable from the distribution unit to a 125VAC power source. It is recommended to connect the unit directly to a main source and not another distribution unit.
4. Toggle the "Reset" switch on the front of the unit to the 'On' position to energize the unit.
5. The "Surge" LED should light up to indicate surge protection is active, and the "Ground" LED should light up to indicate proper grounding is present. If the "SURGE" LED indicator is off, power cycle the power strip by toggling the power switch to the "OFF" position and back to the "ON" position. If the issue persists, contact your authorized StarTech.com reseller or StarTech.com for support.
6. You can now attach your 125VAC-compatible devices to the distribution unit. Ensure that the combined power draw from all devices does not exceed 15A to avoid tripping the built-in circuit breaker.
7. In the event of an overload scenario, the built-in circuit breaker will trip, and power to all outlets will be stopped. Disconnect the problem device or all devices from the distribution unit and toggle the "Reset" switch to turn the ports back on.
