To properly install the Hifonics TPS-A500 Powersports Amplifier, follow these steps:
1. Before starting, check if your vehicle's radio/source unit requires a reset code when disconnected from battery power. Refer to your vehicle's operation manual or contact the dealer for more information.
2. Use the appropriate power and ground cable size for your amplifier model. High-quality copper cable is recommended. Refer to the manufacturer's website for multi-amp system cable recommendations. Also, ensure that you use the proper fuse size for your model, some models may require an external fuse.
3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and secure it in a position where it won't accidentally contact the negative battery post.
4. Properly route power, speaker, and RCA cables through your vehicle.
5. Choose a mounting location for the amplifier that provides adequate air ventilation. Mount the amplifier to a secure surface, ensuring it is not mounted upside down.
6. The chassis ground connection is critical for the amplifier's performance. Choose a location close to the amplifier, completely scrape away the paint, and use a nut and bolt for a secure connection. Do not use an existing factory bolt.
7. Make the power connections by attaching the chassis ground, +12V, and remote wire securely.
8. Connect the RCA cables to the INPUT connectors for signal input. The OUTPUT connectors can be used to provide input for a second amplifier.
9. Turn the GAIN control completely counter-clockwise to the minimum setting.
10. Connect the speaker cables to the speaker output connectors following the provided diagram for your speaker configuration.
11. Connect the power cable to the positive battery terminal. The power cable must be fused within 18 inches of the battery terminal. Be prepared to disarm your vehicle's alarm and enter your radio/source unit code.
12. Re-connect the negative battery terminal, ensuring it is securely tightened.
After installation, you can proceed with the setup and settings of the amplifier. Refer to the manual for detailed instructions on adjusting the GAIN, X-OVER switch, Frequencies adjustment, SUBSONIC adjustment, and BOOST switch.
It is important to properly set the amplifier's level to match the signal output level of your source unit. Follow the provided instructions in the manual for level setting.
If your model includes a bass remote, avoid adjusting it while operating the vehicle.
For more complex audio systems or if you have any specific questions, it is recommended to consult a competent professional or refer to additional installation information available on the manufacturer's website.
