To connect devices to the D-Link DES-105/108 5/8-Port Unmanaged Switch, follow these steps:
1. Determine the type of device you want to connect (e.g., computer, hub, other switches, etc.).
2. Use an Ethernet cable (Category 3, 4, or 5 UTP/STP) to connect the device to any available port on the switch.
3. For computers or devices with an RJ-45 10/100Mbps port, use a straight-through Ethernet cable. For connecting two switches or a switch to a hub, use a crossover Ethernet cable.
4. Ensure that the connection is secure by firmly plugging in the Ethernet cable into both the device's Ethernet port and the corresponding port on the switch.
5. Repeat the above steps for each device you want to connect to the switch.
6. Once all devices are connected, the switch will automatically detect the network speed (10Mbps or 100Mbps) and duplex mode (half or full) through auto-negotiation.
7. The LED indicators on the switch's front panel will indicate the network link and activity status for each connected device.
Note: If the LED indicators do not light up after making the connections, check the Ethernet card of the device, the cable, and the switch's conditions and connections.
