To set up your ASUS RT-AC86U router, follow these steps:
1. Preparing your modem:
- Unplug the power cable/DSL modem and remove the battery if it has one.
- If you're using DSL for the internet, make sure you have your username and password from your ISP.
- Connect your modem to the router using the bundled network cable.
- Power on your cable/DSL modem and check the LED lights to ensure the connection is active.
2. Setting up your router:
- You can set up your router via a wired or wireless connection.
- For a wired connection, plug your router into a power outlet and connect the network cable from your computer to a LAN port on the router.
- The web GUI should launch automatically when you open a web browser. If not, enter http://router.asus.com.
- Set up a password for your router to prevent unauthorized access.
3. For a wireless connection:
- Plug your router into a power outlet and power it on.
- Connect to the network name (SSID) shown on the product label on the back of the router.
- For better security, change the SSID and assign a password.
- Once connected, the web GUI should launch automatically. If not, enter http://router.asus.com.
- Set up a password for your router to prevent unauthorized access.
Remember to save your wireless router settings, including the router name, passwords, and network SSIDs.
