To set up the NETGEAR EX5000 (AC1200) WiFi Range Extender, follow these steps:
1. Place the extender in the same room as your router for the initial setup. You can move it to a different location later.
2. Plug the extender into an electrical outlet and wait for the Power LED to light green. If it doesn't light up, press the Power button.
3. Connect your extender to your existing WiFi network using one of the following methods:
- Connect with WPS: If your router supports WPS, press the WPS button on the extender until the WPS LED blinks. Within two minutes, press the WPS button on your router. The WPS LED on the extender will light solid green when the connection is successful.
- Connect with the NETGEAR installation assistant: On a computer or mobile device, open the WiFi connection manager and connect to the extender network called "NETGEAR_EXT." Launch a web browser and visit www.mywifiext.net. Follow the prompts to connect your extender to your existing WiFi network.
4. Once the setup is complete, you can move the extender to a new location. It is recommended to place it about halfway between your router and the area with a weak WiFi signal.
5. Connect your Wi-Fi-enabled devices to the extended network using the WiFi credentials you specified during the setup.
