To switch between HDMI source devices using the StarTech.com VS421HD4KA 4 Port HDMI Switch, you have several options:
1. Automatic Operation: The HDMI switch features automatic operation, which means it will automatically select the most recently activated or connected HDMI source device. Simply connect a new device or turn on an already connected device, and the switch will automatically switch to that device.
2. Priority Operation: The HDMI switch also supports priority operation. It will prioritize ports 1, 2, 3, and 4 respectively. When you turn on a higher prioritized video source device (e.g., port-1), that video source will automatically be selected. Turning off the device will automatically switch back to the lower prioritized video source (e.g., port-4).
3. Manual Operation with Selection Button: On the front of the HDMI switch, there is an input selection button. Press this button to toggle between each video source device. The active port LED indicator will light up to indicate which port is selected.
4. Manual Operation with Remote Control: The HDMI switch comes with a remote control. Press buttons 1 through 4 on the remote control to switch between HDMI ports in1 to in4 respectively.
5. Manual Operation with Serial Control: If you have connected the HDMI switch to your computer system using the included RJ11 to DB-9 serial adapter, you can use terminal software to communicate through the serial port and operate and configure your switch using on-screen commands.
