To switch between different audio sources using the Monoprice 43392 Blackbird Toslink S/PDIF 4x1 Switch, you can use either the included remote control or the manual push-button operation on the switch itself. Here are the steps:
1. Ensure that all devices connected to the switch are powered off and disconnected from their power sources.
2. Use a Toslink digital optical S/PDIF cable (available separately) to connect one end to the optical input on your output device (e.g., amplifier, TV) and the other end to the OUT port on the switch.
3. Use Toslink digital optical S/PDIF cables (available separately) to connect one end to the IN ports on the switch and the other end to the optical outputs on your audio source devices (e.g., DVD player, gaming console). Repeat this step for up to three additional audio source devices.
4. Plug the included IR Receiver into the IR jack on the switch and position the receiver bulb where it can receive IR signals from the included IR Remote Control.
5. Plug one end of the included USB Power Cable into the USB POWER port on the switch and the other end into a USB power source (e.g., computer, wall charger).
6. Press the ON/OFF button on the switch to turn it on. One of the LEDs will illuminate to indicate the selected input and that power is applied.
7. Plug in and power on all connected devices.
8. To switch between audio sources, use the remote control to select the desired input. Alternatively, you can use the SWITCH button on the switch itself to cycle through the connected inputs.
9. Start audio playback on your source devices and verify that you can hear audio from the output device.
