To connect microphones to the Mackie 402VLZ4 mixer, follow these steps:
1. Identify the XLR inputs on the mixer. These are typically located on the top panel of the mixer and are labeled as "Mic/Line Inputs."
2. Make sure the mixer is powered off and all volume controls are set to minimum.
3. Take an XLR cable and connect one end to the microphone's XLR output.
4. Take the other end of the XLR cable and connect it to one of the XLR inputs on the mixer. Make sure to match the cable's male and female connectors correctly.
5. Repeat the process for each microphone you want to connect, using separate XLR cables for each microphone.
6. Once all the microphones are connected, power on the mixer and adjust the input gain controls for each channel. The input gain controls are located on the top panel of the mixer, next to each XLR input. Start with the controls set to the minimum position and gradually increase the gain until the desired level is achieved. Be careful not to set the gain too high to avoid distortion.
