Here is a step-by-step guide to help you install the Alarm.com ADC-VDB106 Doorbell Camera:
1. Pre-Installation Checklist:
- Check that your existing wired doorbell is working properly.
- Verify that your existing doorbell is wired by visually inspecting the doorbell button for wires.
- Identify the type of doorbell chime you have (mechanical, digital, tube, or intercom system).
- Make sure you have the Wi-Fi password for the network where you plan to install the doorbell camera.
- Check the internet and Wi-Fi speed at the installation location (2 Mbps upload speed is required).
2. Hardware Installation:
- Remove the existing doorbell button, taking care not to let the wires slip into the wall.
- Attach the doorbell mounting bracket to the wall using the provided screws.
- Connect the power wires to the mounting bracket, ensuring they are of equal thickness and securely tightened.
- Slide the doorbell camera onto the mounting bracket and tighten the set xxxx on the bottom.
3. Connecting the Digital Doorbell Adapter (if necessary):
- If you have a digital chime, you will need to install the Digital Doorbell Adapter.
- Remove the cover from the digital chime and locate the wire terminals.
- Connect the Digital Doorbell Adapter wires to the chime terminals as instructed.
- Reassemble and reinstall the digital chime in its original location.
4. Syncing with Alarm.com:
- Make sure the doorbell camera's LED is alternating red and green, indicating it is in Wi-Fi Access Point (AP) mode.
- Log in to the Alarm.com app using the account that will have the doorbell camera.
- Select "Add a New Doorbell Camera" and follow the on-screen instructions.
- When instructed, connect to the doorbell camera's temporary Wi-Fi network (named Skybell_123456789 or SkybellHD_123456789).
- Enter the home's Wi-Fi password carefully and complete the setup process.
5. Notifications and Recording Schedules:
- Set up push notifications to receive alerts when the doorbell button is pushed or motion is detected.
- Configure recording schedules to determine when the doorbell camera records clips.
