To set up the Nady DW-11 Digital Wireless Microphone System, follow these steps:
1. Rack Mounting the Receivers (optional): If you want to rack mount the receivers, you can use the optional RMT-1KUD rack tray. Make sure to avoid mounting the receiver directly above an amplifier or other heat source.
2. Powering the Receivers: Plug the provided AC/DC adapter into the DC input jack on the back of the receiver. Then, plug the power supply into an AC outlet. Press the power switch once to turn on the receiver. The power LED will light up, indicating that the receiver is operational.
3. Antennas: The receivers come with attached antennas. Position them in the rack so that they can be adjusted fully to obtain maximum range. Optimal antenna position is 45 degrees from the receiver and 90 degrees from each other. For maximum range, maintain a line-of-sight between the receiver antennas and the transmitter whenever possible.
4. Connecting the Audio Output: The receivers provide both a fixed Mic level balanced XLR audio output and an adjustable line level unbalanced 1/4" jack audio output. Both outputs can be used simultaneously. Use an XLR connector to connect the XLR output to your amplifier or mixing board. For the 1/4" output, start with the receiver volume at 1/2 MAX and adjust until the volume level is optimal. Avoid setting the volume too high to prevent overloading your mixer or amp.
5. Microphone Connection: You can use either the balanced XLR or the unbalanced 1/4" output for microphone connection. The XLR output is set at a non-adjustable microphone level, similar to hardwired mic levels. Adjust the volume level from your amplifier or mixing board. To use the 1/4" unbalanced output, follow the instructions for connecting, but start with the receiver volume at 1/2 MAX and adjust until the volume level is optimal. Avoid setting the volume too high to prevent overloading your mixer or amp.
6. LED Display: The receivers have AF and RF LED indicators. The AF LED shows the audio present from the transmitter. If it lights continuously, decrease the volume to the microphone to avoid overload distortion. The RF LED shows the transmitter's signal strength. If it is not lit or flickering, either the transmitter is not on or it is out of range. Move the transmitter closer to re-establish the connection.
