To install the Kwikset 99250103 Smart Lock Bronze Conversion Kit, follow these steps:
1. Make sure your existing deadbolt is compatible. If you have a standard deadbolt mounted separately from the handle below it, it is compatible with Kevo Convert.
2. Measure the thickness of your door. Confirm that your door is either 1-3/8" or 1-3/4" (35 mm or 44 mm) thick.
3. Disassemble your existing deadbolt. Open your door and extend the latch bolt. Remove all existing deadbolt hardware from the interior side of your door, but keep the deadbolt exterior in place.
4. Determine the parts needed for your door. Look at the hole in your door and identify the shape of your torque blade (the part sticking out through the latch). Refer to page 11 of the installation manual for a list of compatible deadbolt models.
5. Install the mounting plate and test your latch. Follow the instructions provided in the manual to install the mounting plate and ensure that your latch is functioning properly.
6. Prepare the interior assembly and install the adapter. Follow the instructions in the manual to prepare the interior assembly and install the adapter onto it.
7. Install the interior assembly onto the mounting plate. If you have a Schlage deadbolt, pay attention to the position of your latch bolt in relation to the mounting plate.
8. Perform the door-handing process. This step is crucial for the lock's operation and will teach it the orientation of your door. Follow the instructions in the manual to complete this process.
9. Download the Kevo app and set up your smartphone. Download the Kevo app from kwikset.com/kevo/app or scan the provided QR code. Create an account, enroll your smartphone, and send eKeys to family and friends following the instructions within the app.
10. Install the interior cover. Depending on your preference, you can choose to keep the window locked or unlocked. Install the interior cover accordingly.
