To install the Kwikset Powerbolt 250 Keypad Electronic Lock, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the door and check the dimensions: Measure the hole in the door to confirm it is either 2-1/8 in (54 mm) or 1-1/2 in (38 mm) in diameter. Measure the backset to confirm it is either 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 in (60 or 70 mm). Measure the hole in the door edge to confirm it is 1 in (25 mm) in diameter. Measure the door thickness to confirm it is between 1-3/8 and 1-3/4 in (35 mm and 44 mm). If the door thickness exceeds 1-3/4 in, contact customer service for a thick door kit.
2. Install the latch and strike: Hold the latch in front of the door hole and ensure the rectangular-shaped hole is centered. If the door edge is chiseled, install the strike on the door frame. If not, remove the latch face, twist off the collar, and install the drive-in collar. Install the latch in the door with the supplied screws, making sure the slotted hole is at the bottom of the latch. Align tabs with holes in the collar and ensure the collar snaps into place.
3. Install the exterior keypad: Determine the diameter of the hole in the door. If it is 2-1/8 in (54 mm), no adapter ring is needed. If it is 1-1/2 in (38 mm), an adapter ring is required. Install the exterior keypad and mounting plate, ensuring the flat blade is centered in the mounting plate hole. Tighten the screws evenly, but not over-tighten.
4. Install the interior assembly: Remove the interior cover from the interior assembly. Secure the interior assembly onto the mounting plate. Install 4 AA batteries in the interior assembly. Install the interior cover for the interior assembly.
5. Add user codes: Press the Program button once, then press number 1. Press the Kwikset logo once. Enter a user code (4 to 8 digits in length). A total of 25 user codes can be programmed. Press the Kwikset logo once. Repeat this process for each user code.
6. Test the lock: Before locking and unlocking the door, create a user code. To lock the door, press the Kwikset logo button. To unlock the door, enter the user code. The lock will beep and the Kwikset logo button will flash to indicate successful locking or unlocking.
