To set up the AcuRite 06014 Iris Weather Station with Mini Wireless Display, follow these steps:
1. Set the A-B-C Switch: Locate the A-B-C switch inside the battery compartment of both the sensor and the display. Set the A-B-C switch to the same letter choice (A, B, or C) on both units to ensure they synchronize.
2. Install or Replace Batteries: Batteries must be installed for the product to operate. Use high-quality alkaline or lithium batteries for best performance. Do not use heavy-duty or rechargeable batteries. The sensor requires lithium batteries in low-temperature conditions (-4ºF / -20ºC or below).
3. Remove Rain Gauge Stabilizer: Locate and remove the rain gauge stabilizer (plastic tab) taped into the bottom of the sensor. The rain gauge will not function until this is removed.
4. Place the Units: Choose an open location for the sensor with no obstructions above or around it for accurate measurements. Place the display in a dry area free of dirt and dust.
5. Maximize Wireless Range: Ensure the display and sensor are within 330 feet (100 meters) of each other. Place units away from large metallic items, thick walls, metal surfaces, or other objects that may limit wireless communication. Also, keep them at least 3 feet (.9 meters) away from electronic devices.
6. Calibrate the Rain Gauge: The rain gauge on the sensor can be calibrated for improved accuracy. Follow the instructions in the manual to calibrate the rain gauge using a plastic cup and water.
7. Set Time, Date, and Units: Press and release the "SET" button on the display to enter SET MODE. Use the "▲" and "▼" buttons to adjust the currently selected item (flashing) and press "SET" to save the adjustments. The preference set order is: Clock Hour, Clock Minute, Calendar Month, Calendar Date, Calendar Year, and Units Scale (U.S. standard or metric).
8. Basic Setup is Complete: The sensor will synchronize with the display, which may take a few minutes. The units should now be ready to use.
