To set up the AcuRite 06059 Atlas Weather Sensor, follow these steps:
1. Verify Package Contents: Make sure you have the AcuRite Atlas outdoor device, mounting bracket (optional), mounting anchors & screws (optional), and Lightning Detection Sensor (optional).
2. Install Batteries: Open the battery compartment and insert four AA alkaline or lithium batteries. Lithium batteries are recommended for low temperature conditions. Do not use heavy duty or rechargeable batteries.
3. Optional: Install Lightning Detection Sensor: If you have the optional Lightning Detection Sensor, insert it in the battery compartment.
4. Mount Device Outdoors: Choose a location that meets the placement requirements mentioned in the manual. The outdoor device should be within 330 feet of the receiving device (AcuRite Atlas indoor display or AcuRite Access), at least 5 feet off the ground, facing south, away from heat and humidity sources, and level for accurate rain reporting.
5. Adjust Wind Vane Orientation (Optional): If needed, you can adjust the wind vane orientation by pressing the calibration button in the battery compartment and pointing the vane to the north. This step is not necessary for most users.
